Weight Loss Medications Posted or Updated on 21 Jan 2026

We understand there is national policy around the availability of weight loss medications from 23rd June 2025.

GPs in Lancashire & South Cumbria have not yet received confirmation that they will be commissioned to prescribe these medications.

Your GP is awaiting official guidance and commissioning updates. Until we receive confirmation, we cannot guarantee that the service will be available from 23rd June.

What you need to know

• We will provide an update as soon as more information becomes available
• If we are going to be commissioned to provide this service, we will offer suitable appointments to our patients
• If we are not going to be commissioned, we will advise you on what arrangements are being out in place for the local population
